About Station

ICAR-Central Potato Research Institute, Regional Station, Jalandhar (Punjab) is one of the seven regional research stations of the ICAR-Central Potato Research Institute, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. The station was established in 1957 and is situated 6 kilometres from the Jalandhar bus stand, 9 kilometres from Jalandhar City Railway station on the Nakodar road near Eldeco greens in the village of Badshahpur at 31° 16' N and 75° 32' E, 237 metres above mean sea level. The station is actively involved in the production of high-quality seed potatoes, which are distributed to various government bodies and progressive potato growers in Punjab and other states. The CPRI's Agri-Business Incubation (NAIF-ABI) centre is also located at this station, which is involved in incubating, training and assisting agri-entrepreneurship. This station also features a hi-tech seed potato production facility (AEROPONICS), tissue culture laboratory, a small scale potato processing facility, open-top chambers, a cold store, a mini conference hall, a library and a guest house (8 rooms). Additionally, the station is equipped to design and fabricate specialised machinery for potato cultivation and post-harvest handling.
