Sec.4(1)(b)(xv): Particulars of facilities available to citizens for obtaining information including the working hours of a library or reading room, if maintained for public use
(a) Publications: Technical bulletins and extension bulletins depicting the technology developed at the Institute on various aspects related to potato development and production are available at nominal cost. The packages of practices for potato cultivation are however supplied free. The contact person is Head, Division of Social Sciences, Central Potato Research Institute, Shimla-171 001 (HP).
(b) Library : The library at the Institute’s headquarter at Shimla is one of the largest libraries on potato having about 40,000 documents and subscribes to about 3 foreign and 30 Indian current periodicals. The libraries at Shimla and its stations have access to about 3000 online journals through Cera Consortium of ICAR. A comprehensive computerized database on Indian potato literature since 1901 and potato theses covering period 1937-2016 is available. The library at Shimla as well as its libraries at regional stations are open for all scientists engaged in potato research in the country and also to other readers/workers/farmers who are interested on getting information on potato. The timings are as per office hours which at Shimla are 9.00AM to 5.30PM with Saturday, Sunday and holidays off.
